Hey hey. Following up my thread about gettin an HDTV (delivered tomorrow w00p) which supports up to 1080p, I now have a question about my 360.
I have an HD component cable (included with my Xbox 360 Premium), and just want to confirm this supports 1080p as I'm told? Someone else somewhere said its ONLY possible using VGA or HDMI cable on the Xbox Elite only.. But that doesn't sound right
Cheers

XBOX360 Component connection is High defNothing to see here, move along.0

may be high def but there's more than one resolution for high def. I'm fairly sure that none of the xbox's games are in 1080p and so you won't see any difference between 720/1080 being sent to your new tv.0

when setting up the hd conponent cable leave out the yellow one and it'll say yp////etc 1080i
...hths:Dmove the switch from tv to hdtv...as far as I am aware the 1080p is for the PS3 and the 1080i is for the xbox 360have tried xbox 360 in 720 and 1080i and I can't see any difference...

i have 4 games and 3 of them support both 1080i and 1080p. only one of them only supports the 1080i and not p.0 -

The only XBox 360 game developed natively in 1080p is Virtua Tennis 3. All others are usually developed at around 720p and scaled to the necessary resolution. I use a VGA connection on my antique premium and as far as i'm aware, component supports 1080p fine.
Just remember to ensure your standard definition settings are at 60Hz before you go to HD as some games ignore the resolution and detext that your still running at 50Hz and demand that you change it, this of ourse means having to swap all of your cable over to change the setting :rolleyes:0 -

halo 3 is 60hz only. when i tried to play it it said i had to change it. when i did it worked. this may sound silly but if a tv is only 50hz will setting the console at 60hz harm the tv at all with it getting the picture at a higher setting than it is designed for?0 -
May be worth noting that the 360 component cable wont upscale standard definition DVDs. VGA definitely does upscale as I use this myself. I have never tried HDMI.0
