Having to cancel holiday

Hi

Hope this is in correct thread.

I have a trip booked tomorrow to Tenerife with TUI, but 2 weeks ago i woke up with a swollen and painful foot, and have been on sick leave since 19 April. Until this Friday then back to doctors to see what is next.
At the time I asked TUI if i could change but they said too late, and no refund :( I thought i would leave it till last minute incase I am any better. Still can't walk far,  and any form of footwear leaves me in pain, along with pain in night when painkillers work off.
I do have travel insurance but in policy it quotes

"Death, illness, injury or complications of pregnancy or childbirth:
The death, serious injury, serious illness or complications of pregnancy or childbirth of you"

Bit concerned in the wording, from injury to serious injury and today I am going to doctors for a medical note, giving reason for me not to travel, I.E. my foot is still swollen and uncomfortable to walk on. I am going to fracture clinic Thursday for examination as have been referred there.

So my main question is does my injury mean i should get insurance to pay out?
TIA
Andy

If it's serious enough to be off work then it's probably serious enough to be covered by insurance for cancellation. If the doctor advises not to travel then that should be enough, if you did travel against medical advice the insurance probably wouldn't cover you when there.

Spoke to CAB, they said any injury or illness that forces you to cancel is enough.
2 hours on phone trying to cancel and get cancellation invoice from TUI. CAB said best to email or post but i need a copy this week for insurance. Also don't want to go incase I make injury worse or flares up

Do you live anywhere near a TUI store ? That would be the best option IMO to get this actioned..... Iif somebody could drive you over ?
Failing that, find the telephone number off TUI website for nearest store and call them - I found that worked, speaking to a travel adviser in person.
You'll need an unfit to fly letter from your GP to support your insurance claim.
Hope it all works out for you - appears to be a straightforward case.

After trying endless times and getting cut off, and contacting local store who helped me but never replied to my email, I eventually got through to TUI today to cancel holiday and get cancellation invoice, they wanted me to pay £200 extra!! due to a promotion discount applied to my booking, my insurance has £150 excess. After some pleading they removed the £200

Hopefully when i book in a few months they give me a good deal

Letter sent asking for a  signed medical certificate from a doctor for cancelled holiday because of illness or injury. Tomorrow hospital for examination, that letter saved and used for insurance claim.

Admiral have refunded me all apart from £150 excess and now trying to get £13 air passenger duty off TUI. Paid  £60 for medical note to be filled in at Dr. but not received anything from doctors yet!
