Question about car tax?

I bought a 2nd hand car from someone in the family last week and they let the tax run until the end of april. I taxed it yesterday and it's still showing as untaxed on the direct.gov website. The payment has been taken out of my account but the online says not taxed - tax due april 2022.

Now, as I live near curtain twitchers and nosy neighbours, it wouldn't surprise me if they check my number plate and see it says not taxed and report me. SO, my question is - if they do so, would a tow truck/dvla come and take my car? I understand the website says it can take 5 days for the status to change online and it is a bank holiday today.

Are there such cameras on the road that check cars for no tax?

Am I ok to drive around still?

Thanks and sorry if this is a daft question.

Takes a few days to show, don't worry.

If the change of ownership occurred at anything other than midnight on the first of the month then it would require both owners to pay for the full month in which the sale took place. There is no such thing as being taxed until the end of the month anymore.

Did you complete the change of owner online before the end of April? If so then you would have needed to tax it at that point. If you did the change on 30th April and not use it then it will let you tax on 1st May
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

We changed the registered keeper on one of our cars at the end of March. We had to do the tax on the phone but were not made to both tax it on the 30th March.

Things are taking ages to get updated.
I did my tax on the first of December last year, for January 22.
Did not show as taxed for 6 days.
I did my insurance on the 7/4/22 but did not show on askmid until the 10/4/22.
I just printed out the cover note and put it in the car just in case.
