Travel Insurance want medical proof of infection

Hi, as all the NHS testing centres have closed, How do we provide proof to my travel insurers that someone has Covid and can't go on holiday? They are looking for a certificate from a medically registered person. The LFT my husband did and registered today won't do. I can't see my GP agreeing to have an infected person turn up for a test, or any other healthcare facility private or otherwise. Has anyone else come across this problem and how did you solve it? Thanks!

Would they accept certified results from private PCR test providers, such as those listed at https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/how-to-find-the-cheapest-private-coronavirus-tests-for-travel/?

Is your husband too unwell to travel ? - In that case your GP may be able to provide a letter to state he is not fit to travel / or you can pay for one privately .

Or is it that the destination does  not accept anyone with Covid ? In that case you will need to pay for a Covid test that provides a certified result . Your insurance should be able to advise whether they accept a certified result from a LFT or whether it has to be a PCR test.

Many destinations no longer required you to declare if you have Covid - in which case - your insurance may not pay out as it would be treated as disinclination to travel .

Thanks for the advice. I am hoping OH will be recovered by then and I won't have succumbed! Travel insurance covers cancellation if you catch covid 19 within 14 days of departure, I just need to prove it so don't think the disinclination to travel is an issue. Would hope as it is 13 days away he will be testing negative. Personally I would not be keen to get on a flight if I thought I was still infectious and risk passing it on to someone, though I know some will interpret the lack of mandatory testing as licence to do just that! Will contact insurer and ask what proof they need.
