Has anyone tried this?
Did it work?
Was the stick long enough?

Attached to extending poles from a window cleaning kit.  Bit 'Heath Robinson' - but it worked!

The neighbours would not like a drone buzzing near their house

What an intriguing question !
It's worth bearing in mind - if your gutters do need cleaning, and you're not confident enough up a ladder to do it yourself, most window cleaners can clean them for you, for not too much expense.  There's 3 or 4 window cleaners that "do" our village, and they all offer gutter cleaning as well.

They might if you offered free roof inspection, especially after a storm.

We have a window cleaner who charges £75 for a gutter clean!!!
I just want to see how bad they are - if at all
I could not climb a ladder

Ouch!!  Get yourself to rural Scotland - £45 for a 5 bed house.
Although, to be fair, even £75 probably ain't that bad, depending on the size of the house and the access.  You could be talking a couple of hour's work - or even more - to do a proper job.  I'm reasonably OK up a ladder, and do a lot of it myself, but the very high or awkward bits I get someone in to do it.
But yes, you're absolutely right - if you can figure out a way to get a look yourself to decide whether it needs doing or not, that's got to be a good shout.
