BG bill cancelled

After being moved to BG from PFP I have had two bills covering roughly 1 and 3 months. All readings were provided by me. Now they have cancelled those two bills and issued one which covers the entire period. But only for the electricity use. No reference to the Gas usage. I assume eventually they will issue a separate complete bill for the Gas. Recently I changed to DD payment and they keep saying I am paying too much. But is that because they aren’t including the gas usage? As the reduced amount seems lower than I expected. Or should I reduce it anyway and at least have the money in my account until they realise it might be too low!

They have done exactly the same to me. Twice. Firstly for electricity (no gas on the bill) then I got a bill with both, now I have one for just gas. I paid the bill they sent for gas and electricity, then submitted readings then they cancelled and replaced the bill with one for just gas, so now I’m over £1000 in credit. I haven’t set up a direct debit yet so have just been paying bills as they arrive. Funnily enough, when I check usage on their website I can only see electricity usage.

@fly-catchers I'd leave your DD alone if you know you haven't paid for gas yet. Wait until the billing for gas and electricity is up-to-date and then review your DD payment and hassle BG to get it what you feel is correct so you don't end up in excessive credit/debit.
@Uncle_Cuddles I wouldn't set up a DD until BG have your billing sorted correctly. They've been making all sorts of "blunders" elsewhere if many posts are anything to go by and you could get DD'd a wrong (huge?!) amount. If you get a bill you know to be correct, pay it, if it's wrong challenge it and provide the correct meter readings.

I am an ex Neon Reef customer for electricity - transferred to BG.  I have received 4 bills from BG and made 4 payments to them for electricity since January, which comes to over £800.  They have now cancelled all my bills (fortunately I have copies of them) and have now given me this large credit in my account instead.  I do not pay by direct debit.  They have also given me 3 projections for switching to their fixed tariffs (previously they were annual projections which were far far more than the price cap).  These new projections are now monthly - all of which will cost me only £15-£16 pounds a month!  I would be overjoyed if that really were the case!

However, what I am concerned about is that in the billing section it says "bill cancelled and replaced".  I haven't received new replacement bills yet.  Are they likely to issue new bills with highly inflated rates etc - not taking into account the rate I was on before the April price cap rise?  Has anyone else received new bills from them after cancellation of all their original bills?  They are a complete mess and I have taken them to the ombudsman once over the misrepresentation of their guaranteed price tariff until end of July and I thought that would be the end of it now.  But now they are behaving ridiculously again.

Unlikely, but do check the dates and charges closely when they are reissued...
The usual intent for the cancellation and replacement is to properly align the dates and readings with the final bills from NR as at the date BG were appointed as your supplier, rather than the date they were using while waiting for the final bill details, which was the date the supply was actually transferred to them.

One of the problems I have just found is that if you are on their standard 6 monthly review cycle but give them monthly meter readings then they cancel the previous bill and issue a new one back dated for the period, not just an additional bill for the previous month. So you always have 1 bill for the period, not monthly.

Not an issue except if you have had the bill corrected due to them using wrong meter readings in that period, the new bill gets created using those wrong values again and as such you will have to go through the whole routine again to make sure your bill is correct. Pain in the .....

I've had one bill issued since the demise of NR - on 1st Feb. For no apparent reason it was "cancelled/replaced " on 14th March - except no replacement as of yet.
Today they asked for a meter read -even tho' I gave one on the 1st May - after inputting a read, the top of the page says I'm now ~ £70 in debit HOWEVER , the account overview says my account is in credit by nearly £500 and the "end of contract" balance is predicted to be £80 in credit so please reduce my DD !!
It's a total waste of time talking to the muppets on Chat - they don't know where the figures come from either !!!
EDIT - Just had an email from BG thanking me for the reading BUT "Your next bill isn't due for a while so we might need another reading before then. Don't worry, we'll send you a reminder nearer the time." Couldn't make it up !!

..so this morning I find they have raised a bill - no idea what it's based on because the PDF isn't available! Wonder if it will be reversed WITHOUT me actually seeing it !

Have actually received a downloadable PDF overnight. Covers the start with BG until 4th May. Good news is that they have used the final reading on the NR statement as the start point and my reading given as requested on 4th May. They have also used the changeover figure I supplied for 1st April !!
There are various interim readings invented by BG but they don't make any difference to the calculations.
They haven't charged for the daily rate from 22nd November til 5th December on the bill , and the only "adjustments" are for the money I owed NR. So looking like they have written off the ~ two weeks of standing charges.

From reading these posts, the only consistency in their billing is how chaotic it is.  I was switched to them after Neon Reef collapsed and received my first bill a few days ago, after 6 months.  The reading they've used from NR is from the first time I left them, back in June for Symbio, which they say is the one NR gave them, but I think it's more likely they inputted the wrong one, so I now have to wait up to 12 working days for a new bill.  Meanwhile, they've more than doubled my DD, as they'd billed me for 600 units I'd already paid Symbio for.

I later noticed that, although I gave BG a reading on 31/3/22 before the price rise, they used their own estimate instead, even though my reading is also shown on the bill.
