Er, I think it might not be the Enigma machine as that isn't a code just a device used to encrypt/decrypt Cipher codes?

I thought the answer might be - Cipher - since it is asking for 'the sort of code' & Cipher is the generic term for the codes that both sides in the conflict used.Sad because you don't know what to do? :sad: Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out

From what I understand, the Enigma Code is a cipher code - bit like a Golden Delicious is an Apple.
So think of it like this the Germans used Golden Delicious (Enigma Machine) & the Allies used Braeburn (Typex Machine) to encrypt their messages - they both used machines which encrypted messages into Cipher with the particular apple type as the type of cipher used.
