Price cap

Hello,

I hope everyone is well, I am a little confused about the energy price cap. It says on the OFGEM website the kWh rate is capped at £0.28p but EDF are charging me £0.33p per kWh and say it’s perfectly fine ?! I am on their standard variable rate

No, you are looking at the average figures on the Ofgem site, not the specific regional cap for where you live and the cap also varies depending upon how you pay, DD for example is cheaper than payment on receipt of bill...
If you want to give us the full details of your tariff rates we can take a better look at this though as £0.33 does sound a little high or is that just your day rate on a E7 tariff?

That does sound like an economy 7 day rate rather than a single rate unless you are prepayment? Even still seems a little high.

  • Ahh ok, so I live in the southwest and pay by DD, I was guessing there are right but just didn’t understand why it was different

Southwest by DD on single rate should be around 28.41p per kWh so that doesn't sound right I would query this again with them.

E7 normal rate is 33.09p that that could be it are you on economy 7

It could be correct for E7, but not for a single rate tariff...

Then your cap would be £1,310.30 for 4200kWh split 58/42% day/night and those rates work out to be £1,309.34, so it is compliant with the Ofgem limits.
