Been missing over the weekend as im having trouble with my laptop again, hopefully sorted for now ! I have been busy with mum, my sister and I are trying to pop in eash day and are helping her with meals etc, she does seem a lot better and is now on tablets for a uti which are helping, I cooked a roast pork yesterday and she managed the walk to here (with her walker) and enjoyed her dinner and a pudding, I have done her a dinner for today as well so she just has to heat it up.
Snoozer sorry to hear you all have covid I hope its a mild one xxx
Izzy when you first light your log burner just have a gentle (not roaring) fire, the man that fitted ours advised that for the first lighting, you will love it ! xx
Going to get out with the dogs for a long walk today and hopefully pick up some local asparagus while we are out, dinner will be salmon new potatoes and asparagus.
Going to have a read back now, hope everyone is ok xxx12 -
Morning all. We went to the dog racing last night, I didn't want to go [shades of agoraphobia] and while it wasn't super exciting, it was still enjoyable [although I spent most of the night talking to OH and not mingling, but hey, baby steps etc. I took some skirt out of the freezer to make stroganoff with, will keep half for either a steak salad or something else. No plans today, may go into the garden and pretend to do some work, do some Italian. I fancy having a go at making salami so I've asked my cousin if there's someone in Italy to teach me. Turns out, my cousins daughters boyfriends father [ confused?
] makes his own so I aim to ask for lessons when I go next. I've youtubed it but there's nothing like experience and one to one lessons...
Maddie, she's pretty! Snoozer, sorry you both have it, glad Steve has had the anti virals in good time. Ruby good ot hear your mum is up to a small walk too. Scarlet, I like black pudding too. There's not much I don't like to be fair except for tripe and prawns. Izzy, thanks in advance for the heatwaveHave a good day all if you can, if you can't, hugs n stuff.

I still have a recollection of my DMum putting tripe out for our tea when we were young, I couldn't eat it, shudder!Hope everyone enjoys their day x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Afternoon all. Another dull nondescript day weather wise here but it's mild, not raining and very still, so not all bad.
I'm another one that hasn't done a great deal today other than the usual daily tasks. I have, however, managed to tidy up the kitchen drawer that contains everything that doesn't have a proper home - I'm sure we all have one. There wasn't much to bin but at least it's tidy and I know what's in there now. One item that got turfed out and put back where it belongs was a pair of mole grips. It seems DH got them out of the toolbox to open a bottle of lemonade (don't ask, the mind boggles) and just chucked them in the drawer. Doh.
Today would have been my DMs birthday (97) so I shall raise a glass to her tonight. I can't believe 33 years have passed and that I'm older than she was when she died. Talk about time flying.
Tea tonight is a gammon salad. I think DH was hoping for a cooked dinner - sorry, we don't have any spuds until tomorrow's grocery delivery and he's not a lover of rice or pasta so salad it is.Oh Izzy, your thoughts about lighting the log burner even if it’s a heatwave outside made me laugh - I have visions of something akin to a sauna in your house!
I like gooseberry sauce, maddie but haven’t seen anywhere selling them for I don’t know how long. If I had a garden I’d definitely have a gooseberry bush in it - and a clump of rhubarb too. Both are useful to accompany meats as well as sweet treats.
Three cheers for the NHS being on the ball, snoozer - glad Steve has had his anti-viral treatment but sorry Laura now has it too.
If you need to carry on working just half days, dp1 then that’s the way to go - there’s no point in trying to do more than you can or should until you’re fully functional.
I’m pleased to hear your mum seems a lot better, Ruby and hope the UTI tablets kick in quickly.
Like you -taff, there’s not much I don’t like but tripe is definitely a no-no as are whelks, although I do like prawns (and cockles).
Take care all. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.6
