in Credit cards
I have two credit cards with Halifax. One card has not been used for a long time, it has not been registered on any internet site and has always been in my possession.
The card has 3 Fraudulent transactions appeared dated 27th April at a merchant FLACONI.DE for £20.27 each with a further 3 transactions of 59p which is a charge for the payment being made in euros.
Currently been on hold half an hour trying to speak to the fraud team. But have searched 'Halifax fraud' on twitter and it looks like there a quite a few other people in a similar situation.
Just wondered if anyone else had problems with Halifax fraud recently

yeah i did freeze the card. it took an hour for the fraud team to answer. They said they were having problems at the moment with fraud around Europe. In my case there was an initial test on my card details in Japan then the three transactions above.
They were very helpful, closed the account and issued a new card. I asked how these transactions could of happened and he thought it would most likely be from many months ago a merchant previously used had a data breach0 -
I had a text message from the Halifax in February this year, out of the blue (see below).
Like you, it was a Halifax credit card I hadn’t used in a long time (October 2021).
When I checked the Halifax app, there were no transactions showing as pending but I telephoned the fraud team to query the text message legitimacy. The lady on the fraud team said it appeared as though my card details had been compromised and offered to cancel the card and issue a new one. I just asked her to cancel and close the credit card account altogether as I now have one of their cashback credit cards.
She said the closed credit card will still appear on the app/online banking for a period of 6 months.
I also froze the credit card in the app, just as a precaution.
The text message from the Halifax in February 2022, which contained the last 4 digits of my credit card which had apparently been compromised:XXXXX is the passcode to verify your purchase of 37.25 to Papa Johns from card ending XXXX. Only fraudsters would ask you to share this code.0
