Can anyone inform me about buses or taxis from TFS to Los Gigantes, please.

When you come out of the terminal building, there's normally a great long line of Mercedes taxis waiting to take you to wherever. They are all officially licensed and are generally pretty good value whether you are going a short or long journey. This space has been intentionally left blank0

You can also get there by bus if you really want to. Get the bus from the airport to Los Cristianos bus station, then walk a few yards to the stop for Los Gigantes.
The total journey takes something like 1.5-2 hours, and will cost about 6 Euros I think. A fair bit longer than a taxi, but you get a mini-tour of some (not particularly exciting) parts of the island for free!
I wouldn't recommend this if you're travelling with kids, lots of luggage, or arriving in the middle of the night though;)0 -
Make sure you agree a price before getting in. We took the same journey (within PDLA) 5 times last summer and never paid the same fare twice! These were 4 Euro journeys so the scope for overcharging when going from the airport to Los Gigantes is much larger. NB: I'm told the fare from the airport to PDLA is around 20 Euros, so if you have access to a map you should be able to estimate the likely cost of your journey.GlennTheBaker wrote:When you come out of the terminal building, there's normally a great long line of Mercedes taxis waiting to take you to wherever. We are off to Los Gigantes in November and I have found this site https://www.islas.org It is very good. Just click on the map of Tenerife and you come to a page that has all the holiday areas at the top of the page. Click on Los Gigantes and it comes up with info and the facility to work out how much a taxi will cost from Tenerife South Airport.0 -
Thanks to everyone for your much appreciated help.

Rather off-topic from your original question, but while you're there make sure you take the short walk to Puerto de Santiago to check out one of my favourite restaurants. It won't take you long to read the menu
, but it will almost certainly be busy.
assuming you're not vegetarian of course

Hi
website for the bus times
http://www.titsa.com/ingles/frame.html
If you do get a bus look for a small tobacconists at the airport that sells BONO bus passes (green sign in the window or at information). It is a bus pass for 12 euros that gives you up to half price travel on the buses, I think they do a 30 euro version too.
Stops you having to search for change. More than one person can use one BONO pass, just put it in the machine and tell the driver where you want to go and he takes the money off the card.
The buses are excellent, air conditioned to - you just need to put the luggage in the hold youself. and look out for where you want to get off. I have done the buses to Purto de la Cruz in the north no problem with the right timing (not late night), might be easier to change at Playa de Las Americas bus station as it is more an obvious bus station.
Just check you use a direct service unless you want a sight seeing tour of all the villages. Or you could get a bus to Playa de las Amercias and then a taxi still save a little that way.
Buses do take longer but they are far cheaper.
