I wondered that as well.
PC1904 DB1904's forensic skills appear to have let him down on this occasion.0 -
Many electronic components can just die, search for dead pixels, not the TV series obviously.

Of course there’s the risk it isn’t an inherent fault and you end up out of pocket but that’s the risk you need to take.1 -

If it's simply poor soldering then this is presumbly easily fixed by reflowing the solder?
