Late payment on credit file

Is there any guidance or rules around companies reporting a late payment to the Credit Agencies? Can they do it when you are more than one day late, for example?

I’m only asking because I read on Equifax website that companies shouldn’t really be sharing the info unless you are more than 30 days late.

They can report it from when you're one day late.

https://www.equifax.com/personal/education/credit-cards/when-late-credit-card-payments-post/ mentions a 30 day window (in terms of the typical delay between payment due date and reporting to credit agencies) but that's from Equifax's US site rather than the UK one (where there doesn't appear to be any such mention of 30 days) - US and UK credit file management practices aren't aligned....

Late is late.

If it is not on time, it is late.  It really is that simple.

Anything else is a gesture of goodwill.
