And to top it all, I have a chest infection. Send help ;)

I am full of admiration for you. You are becoming or have become:
    • multi-skilled
    • a time manager
    • empathetic consultant
    • a super-daughter and sister...BUT....
You may need to brush up on:
    • qualities of personal motivation (uni will dissatisfy you after 10+ years)
    • leadership of tight-knit groups (family)
    • delegation of tasks to dad and little sis
    • gardening (if any).
    You will then be perfick...

    Takoo

PS Agree a family job-share at Christmas (a true English tradition) so that you have time to open the overwhelming number of family presents that you deserve!
  • What a great thing for you to do - good luck,

I hope my daughter turns out to be as thoughtful and resourceful as you,

I don't know how people function doing this every day in the real world! I'm staying in uni for the rest of my life!

    You don't have to. I don't.

    Stay single. Live alone.

Eat whatever you've got (I sometimes have Sugar Puffs for a meal as they're there). I sit down with my feet up all my spare time and never have to run around after anybody at all.

    :)

Only downside is: everything is down to you. Nobody to help, ever, with anything. All decisions are down to you. All responsibilities are down to you. You have to deal with problems while holding down a full-time job and having limited annual leave. You then have to get quotes/prices for things and pay for everything yourself. Nobody ever makes you a cup of tea. Nobody ever gets your shopping or makes a meal or even picks up a takeaway. There's nobody to accompany you when you want to do anything/go anywhere. Try going away and you pay such an expensive premium for it that you don't bother (it won't be much fun on your own anyway either). And when you're ill there's nobody to see/care if you're dying or get you Lemsips.

So, plan B: Find and marry a millionaire with staff.

So. 3 ways to take your future.

P.S. Dumplings are brilliant. You can never have enough dumplings.

Hi Sali xx I [STRIKE]begged[/STRIKE] asked my daughter if she would help out and offered to pay the same as she could get anywhere else. She has got a job working in a shop  Whatever you cook just do twice the amount and freeze it for the next week. Offer your little sis a lot less than you are getting to do some of the housework and hopefully you will be out at work some of the time for a rest xxx

    Thanks for the support everyone!

Today I went to pick up the Christmas tree and we decorated it, it's beautiful! I'll post a pic when I figure out how.

Didn't cook today because went to work at 5 and just came home now (andnoone saved me anything for tea :()

Wrote up a meal plan and that's been ordered to arrive tomorrow. Now I've got myself organised I think the real work will be starting Monday when everyone's back in work/school!

Sorry to butt in here, but unixgirl, I really like the sound of your carrots in OJ. Now I know I'm going to sound thick, but how do you do them:confused:

Hi, sorry wasn't on over the weekend so only just seen your post. I cut the carrots how I want them (usually batons but it doesn't matter), and cook them initially in boiling water for about 5 mins then drain and add orange juice (I used Tesco value OJ, 4 parts OJ to 1 part water), enough to just cover the carrots and let them simmer away until they're how you like them (pierce them as you would normally with a fork or knife). I like them crunchy so only a few minutes more. The OJ gives them a lovely taste.
