My workplace pension uses it. I wouldn't use it out of choice. Expensive, not many options.

Which Aegon are you referring to?  They have multiple propositions operating different models.

    Aegon Retirement Choices
    Aegon Retire Ready
    Aegon Cofunds
    Aegon Scottish Equitable

If that's the choice then worth doing regardless. Even if it's higher cost you're getting 4x the amount you contribute added as well as tax relief
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

If you were picking yourself from any platform you could probably find better. However if this is your workplace pension (mine is too) then its absolutely fine. The company contributions more than make up for a smaller set of investment choices.

That's decent. My company puts in only 4%

Not sure which of those names mine would be, its a Retiready Pension account, invested in the Scottish Eq Bal Lfstyl Pn 2027 (ARC). However it appears very expensive coupled with poor growth. Have been intending switching it to a Vanguard SIPP for lower costs, but just as I decided to do that the markets dropped so have delayed the move as am now worried its not a good time to switch.
