Efflorescence

Got a bad case of efflorescence on some patio. It’s been down a year now (some people report it improves after a year or simply vanishes overnight) but it hasn’t. We went for a nicer stone than the cheap one but wish we didn’t now. I’ve tried some specialist patio efflorescence remover solution but it didn’t make any difference. It just looks horrible all the time and I’d like to know if anyone has any bright ideas as if not I’ll probably look to replace the patio with a different stone next year.

It's a good idea to prime the back of the slabs before they are laid, if you get a patio done.0

Is that why they are like they are now, because they weren’t?0

Could be. Priming helps prevent salts migrating from under the slabs to the surface. Also helps the slabs adhere to the mortar.1
