Hotel in Rome

Good afternoon to all.
First time trip to Rome booked in May.
Looking for Hotels brings along all sorts, so looking for any recommodations!
I would like to be fairly central, we are good walkers and plan to explore the city mainly by foot.
I don't want an expensive multi national chain hotel with no soul, but also don't want some flea ridden pit next to the highway!
just need a clean tidy room with a clean quality bed and possible views of the city?

No too much to ask I know but any advice gratefully received!!

I've stayed here.  Lots of history and functional rather than exclusive, but all we needed.

Very close to the main station so handy for the train to the airport.

We walked miles, but bus station and metro are both handy.
  • Thanks very much.
    Any others?

My daughter and I stayed at Imperium Suites Navona.  Offers and packages | Imperium Suite Navona  Very close to all the sites and easy reach of the Vatican.  We got the airport bus into and out of the city and otherwise didn't have to use any public transport at all.  No views from the window but atmospheric, clean and friendly.  Nice and quiet too!

  • White Hotel. Just down from the Trevi fountain. We stayed there a few years ago and thought it was amazing value and perfect location. It still has excellent reviews on TripAdvisor.

I know you've asked for a hotel but we weren't in Rome last month and stayed at this airbnb https://abnb.me/ytqBGiPMCpb
There were a lot of status to climb but it had a splendid roof terrace. btw we got the tube and local bus back to the airport and it cost €1.

    Thank you all so much.
The Suite Navona was fully booked, the suggestion from daveyjp proved to be the winner!!
    Thanks again
  • Not sure if you have booked it on free cancellation but thought I would just add something nevertheless. I have been looking for weeks at hotels for my friend, and the ones I chose for him were:
una hotels deco roma, and abit further out Marcella royal.

Hope you enjoy it.  You may need some Euros when you check in to pay the daily tourist tax.

I can recommend La Gallina Blanca if you want a local pizza restaurant!

Just got back from a fabulous time in Rome. The Hotel at https://www.romehoteldazeglio.it/en was excellent. Yes, close to the Termini but a short walk from the station to the hotel and back was very convenient. The breakfast was nothing special tbh, but we walked miles and enjoyed the room size and bathroom.

We had pre-booked Vatican and Colosseum tours and that worked out very well.
Weather was quite hot, 30 degrees most days and that was only May!

    Thanks again for the recommadation

Roma Central Guesthouse . Absolute gem of a place. Stayed in April 4 days close to Termini ,in fact we walked from there to guesthouse. Breakfasts very good and fresh family ran warm and welcoming. We walked from here to all sites without problems. Bit of advice do book all main attractions Colosseum and Vatican etc as all touts take up all day tickets and you are forced to use them to gain entry at inflated prices.
Enjoy what is a wonderful City
