Computer Insurance!

When you purchase a new tech item such as a laptop and they ask if you want to cover it for an extended time such as up to three years for a fee is this the only option or could i search for a better deal away from what the store is offering?
My last computer broke down in year two and is now still going in year eight since the repair and the laptop i have broke in the first year and is now still good in year five.
I have concluded that those first three years or so are the trouble spot for me!
Could i find and approach a company to get a fixed deal for three years on a new purchase or does it need to be done through the store?

Probably be cheaper to get your local computer repairman to fix it than paying these insurances.
Does your home contents insurance cover it?1 -

You could certainly take out cover for the laptop but extended warranties are more likely to only be available in the shop or if buying direct from the manufacturer. Nothing to stop you looking for these things on google though0 -
Contents insurance will cover accidental damage, but a warrenty is usually only from the retailer or manufactuer.
But also worth looking at gadget insurance such as Protect my Bubble, they often cover mechanical breakdown as well as accidental damage and theft/loss.0
