EDF fixed tariff
Options
Hi all
Hope you can help. I was moved to EDF when green energy network went under. I signed up to a 3 year fixed tariff before the fuel rise. I read the T&Cs of the deal and it states the can increase the pay only if my consumption increase. On check my usage it has not, yet they have increased my bill by £40.
Can I challenge this?

Normally they have to get your agreement to an increase in DD but this may be by simply not challenging it.
Is there anything in the terms & conditions about your remaining in credit at all times as if your usage over winter hasn't been covered by the DD that could be another option for them to increase.0 -
No tariff is like an "all you can eat buffet" so if you are using more energy than their initial estimates they can and will increase the amount taken by Direct Debit to cover that.
If your account is in debit then what you have been paying has not been covering your actual usage, so you pay something towards both your usage and the arrears.
What is the current status of your account ?

They have said I was in the red for £52, but when I check the numbers last year they are almost the same!

@Staleloaf More info please - meter reads since EDF took on GNE - include the letters A C E or Our read / Your read. I assume you have been giving EDF monthly readsNever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

Over what period have you accrued the £52 of debit ?
How often do you provide readings to EDF and how often are you billed ?
You said your "bill" has increased by £40, do you actually mean your monthly DD has been increased, and if so what was the previous amount ?
What are the unit rates, standing charges and your estimated annual usage estimate from the bottom of your bills ?1
