Tefal pan non stick flaking

Options
Hi
I have a Tefal Intuition 11” stainless frying pan and the coating around the handle rivet is starting to come away (pic).
Elsewhere the coating is fine and hard wearing but this area looks like a weak spot.
I suppose any repair is not going to be worth it.

It’s not really that old and was £20 from EBay. Usual price is around £40.
I like the size and feel/weight/non stick and just wondering what would be a good replacement that doesn’t have this problem.
Any help appreciated.

Personally I wouldn't be at all concerned about that little bit coming off.  I'd only worry if it was the actual pan itself.  It's certainly usable as it is.

I think it's probably a problem with all non stick pans.  The best one I have was a cheapie from Mr Ls but unfortunately it's no good indoors as I have an induction hob so can only use it in our motorhome but I've had it for about 8 years and there's no sign of any damage.  If I could get another one from there which is suitable for induction I wouldn't hesitate.

I've recently bought 3 Pyrex non-stick baking trays of varying sizes.

They are amazing - compared to my old Prestige ones which were not really that non-stick.

These pans hold the oil which seems to go in blobs rather than spreading out in the pan.
I've cooked joints and vegetables in them and nothing has stuck.
They do roasted aubergine and courgettes perfectly.
They are incredibly easy to clean, even after cooking a beef joint and roast potatoes and parsnips.
These are my roasting tins (asimentria range):

    Argos do frying pans too.

I would complain to tefal. If it's not that old that is not acceptable. I would ask them for a new one.

If you'd watched the film Dark Waters, you wouldn't be cooking with damaged teflon.

Can thoroughly recommend Green Pan. Not cheap, but very very non-stick with no nasty chemicals. A good investment IMO.

Yes, not sure about the Teflon thing. I thought the use of PFOA in it was stopped years ago.
My cheap supermarket saucepans and Ready Steady Cook stir fry pan are all non stick.
    Green Pan looks good.

The Green Pan frying pan is so good, absolutely nothing sticks, was so pleased with it. I bought it to replace the Tefal one you've had that OH left on the gas and overheated. Didn't want to risk using it again.  I've bought a set of saucepans to match. I wish they made bakeware.

Out of interest found this info on the Lakeland website.
The Green pan prices there are 'ouch' factor - many around £50

Currently 20% off... but still on the expensive side.

    Greenpan Cookware

A Belgian company, GreenPan is the brainchild of two school friends, Jan Helskens and Wim De Veirman, who set out to create a greener, non-toxic alternative to conventional non-stick PTFE pan coatings. After a long search they found a ceramic coating called Thermalon.

10 years on, their pans are loved all around the world. Refusing to rest on their eco-friendly laurels, they use upcycled stainless steel and aluminium wherever possible and are constantly searching for new innovations such as reinforcing their Thermolon non-stick with diamonds to give it extra durability and resilience.

    Why Choose GreenPan Ceramic?

Made from natural materials the ceramic coating on GreenPan frying pans and saucepans is derived from sand meaning it is 100% PFA and PFOA free. Its thermal conductivity means it's perfect for frying at low temperatures, using less energy and it's 60% more durable than traditional non-stick. Using Thermalon non-stick means pans are even metal utensil safe.

Thanks. It’s a good idea and there’s probably other brands using it too. I may see what Tefal offer re. replacement but it’s over a year old.

There must be thousands using basic non stick pans and saucepans so as to the possible health risks, it’s a personal choice. Either that or  unawareness/cheap cost.
I just know not to overheat the pan.

I'm trying to get rid of all my nonstick pans now, after watching an excellent Mark Ruffalo movie, Darlk Waters (2019) which horrified me. Dark Waters (2019 film) - Wikipedia I'm now buyng iron with added arm workout. The Range has some at decent prices.
