Motobility Electric car. Home charging/electricity bill/petrol

Hi, my motobility car is up for renewal this year and I've been weighing up if it's worth going for an electric car/vehicle (EV)
The first question is I've been told that if going for an electric car that if choosing an EV that it's free to have an electricity charging point fitted to your home. Is this correct?
The main question is if do go for an EV and charge at home does the cost of our utility bill (gas & electric bill) going up outweigh going for a normal petrol car?
Thank you for your help

Yes, motability will cover the cost of a home charging point. I assume you have a driveway? You can see lots of information here. https://www.motability.co.uk/products/cars/ev-info-hub/The wait for a new car at the moment could be as long as a year for some cars, your dealer will tell you an estimated timescale. For the cost of charging verses fuel cost then i'd advise you to post in the motoring section of the forum because there's some very knowledgeable people over there.

Cost wise is going to depend on your mileage.Life in the slow lane0

EVs run at around 3 miles per kWh so at current SVR that is around 9p per mile. With petrol currently at around £7 per gallon you need to achieve around 80 mpg to break even on fuel costs. With Motability and a blue badge most of the other costs and advantages and disadvantages of either side of the argument are negated. With a good EV electricity tariff and maybe some free charging and a more efficient car the gap gets even wider.
