MBNA limits - how much to go for?

Hello all!

I've got approved for an MBNA Virgin card - limit £10,000. I could try and increase the limit, but they would have to go through and 're-approve' the application. I was just wondering:

1/ How much do people normally get as a percentage of their income?

2/ Is there a maximum limit?

My MBNA card has about £5k which was about 25% of my salary, I did have another card that had £3.5k limit, they also transferred £3k limit from an old one that had been closed for a year which upped it to £8k!
2p off is still 2p off!

On the MBNA visa i have £8300.00 and the MC i have 5800.00 which makes it roughly 50% of my salary....however when i got the first £8300 limit i wasnt really earning much....
i find these days im lucky if i get 15% of my current salary when i apply for a new card, dont know why.....

I have recently been approved for a £10,000 0% debt for 9 months with Virgin, I phoned them & asked for £50,000, they said £10,000 is my limit for now, but I could ask for more again in a few months.

Thaylock - What is £10,000 as a % of your salary (if that ain't too personal a question)? I was only given 10%, but I they told me it's because they are matching my highest limit which is actually £10,800 ("but we only go in increments of £500 and they probably thought £10,000 was a round number")

Dont be greedy. Surely 10k is enough for anyone.

Well, it's not really 10k; it's £375 in interest. If I managed to get a higher limit I'd get more interest.
