Hi all
Just wanted to some advice on how long it typically takes new build addresses to get onto major databases when online shopping.
We are due to move into a new build soon in the next few weeks and we have proceeded to get ourselves registered with Royal Mail so our address is now officially showing on there register online. I am aware roads won’t always show up on google maps & won’t be council adopted immediately.
So I am looking for some info on experiences you may have had with new builds & addresses populating as I would like to start online shopping however abit weary on whether it’ll actually reach me? I am worried our letter post also won’t reach us!

I am planning to order some free samples to my new address to see if they reach me as a bit of an experiment. Any other recommendations?
Thank you

Take a look here, this is the definitive address database UPRN search, address & postcode finder - FindMyAddress
You should be able to find your new build on there complete with it's Unique Property Reference Number.
That is a very handy site that I use a lot for finding properties that I need to visit.
As to when it will be on ALL address databases, possible never? At least most (not all) places will let you enter your address manually if their own address database is out of date.2 -
Thank you will be taking a look into that site. Cheers0

2 of last 3 properties we've lived in were new builds.Current home were a couple of minor issues very early on but the neighbouring houses had been occupied before ours so no real problems.Flats are a bigger issue especially big blocks as it took several months to sort post out (partly as the building had 3 post codes).Having said that we moved up from the South and got straight to the flats using Google maps without knowing the city too well when locals seem to have way more trouble finding the place.May you find your sister soon Helli.

Hoping previous phases has helped postie & delivery ppl get their barings on the estate.Thanks0

I've recently registered two churches on the Royal Mail database, as although they were built in the 1800's, they didn't exist according to Royal Mail or any online address database. From the date of Royal Mail adding them, their own checker showed the addresses within a day or two. I then started checking a few other places the week after, and found that some of the big name websites were now showing the addresses correctly, and that after about a month more were, but there were still some exceptions. According to RM - their database gets updated almost instantly - but each retailer/supplier updates their own address database with different frequencies and so in some cases you'll be on within a week or two, with others it'll be a bit longer.1
