I get people being annoyed as well. We typically go and visit family in the US every year and had ESTA's that we couldn't use and have now expired.

One of those things unfortunately and not expecting the US government to refund anything. Just wish they would get on with dropping the pre-departure testing.

Even if we could it would not be worth it as our excess ( and i suspect most others ) was more than $28
