Window fitting - uPVC vs Aluminium

Hi All,

I'm looking for a bit of guidance.

We are wanting our old uPVC windows/French doors replaced with Aluminium. We recently invited a big, national window fitting company to give us a quote - however, on arrival, they confirmed that they do not usually do Aluminium windows (they only manufacture uPVC).

They said they can measure up, source the Aluminium windows (from a 3rd party) and fit them (would still be covered by their guarantee). The quote we have received from them is quite reasonable when compared to other companies (around £2k saving).

My questions are:
1) would you trust a company that usually specialises in uPVC to fit aluminium windows?
2) is it any harder to fit aluminium windows?
3) if you would not trust them, would you recommend any companies that service the London area?

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Who did you get a quote from and who were the other companies?

For a company that serves London I have no hesitation in recommending https://www.expressbifolds.co.uk/

They have a couple of smaller showrooms on the outskirts of London and a very impressive Leeds showroom.  We used them for our windows and doors first and on many customer projects since.  They do what they say and the quality is great.  

I think Grand Designs London is this week maybe.  They'll almost certainly be there along with other specialist suppliers.
