Peugeot Partner Van, radio coming back on after van is locked. Can anyone advise please?

We have a Peugeot van, usually when you remove the key the radio goes off. Since yesterday we have noticed that when we return to the van the radio is playing despite having been off when we parked.

This morning it was on again and has obviously been on all  night as battery is draining.  Does anyone know how to stop this happening, perhaps by disconnecting the radio (although we do not seem to have the tool which inserts into the holes on the front of the radio so cant see how to remove it). Or could a fuse be  removed? Its a Peugeot Partner 64reg.

It sounds like it could be a fault in the circuit somewhere.  Does it help if you switch the radio itself off first - rather than leaving it on and just letting the removal of the key switch it off, if you see what I mean.
But the simplest short-term fix would be to remove the fuse.  Check the owner's handbook - the radio is almost always protected by its own fuse, so it's very simple to just remove that.  Longer-term, if that turns out to be too much of a faff, it may be worth finding an auto-electrician to see if they can take a look.

Thank you for the reply. When the key is in and the radio is on it will not turn off. The only way to turn it off is to remove the key but it then starts playing again a few mins later.

We have looked at the fuses since I first posted but the according to the manual it's just one fuse which does the radio and the alarm system together so hesitant to remove that.

Looks like an auto electrician is going to be required then.

Hmm, OK.  Sounds odd.  It's a pain that it's on the same circuit as the alarm - you're right, it probably wouldn't be a good idea to remove that fuse in that case.
Actually, thinking about it - if the radio won't turn off, I'm wondering whether it's just an issue with the on/off switch on the radio.  Maybe an audio repair place may be another option?
Sorry, I can't claim to be an electrician - just trying to think of logical causes, and what might be the least expensive way of sorting it!  Auto-electricians are brilliant people, but tend to be quite expensive - it's a pretty highly-skilled job.  I'm just thinking, if it is a problem with the radio itself, an audio-repair type place may be a little cheaper.

Has to be a fault on the radio -

Had the same fault on a vauxhall once. It was the radio- a replacement fixed it anyway.

IIRC, the radio was supposed to turn on for half an hour I think when the keys were out, presumably for the convenience of anyone left locked inside when the driver nips into a shop or something, the fault was likely with this circuitry.

It's likely the radio, but it could be the ignition barrel.

Has to be a fault on the radio = It has an On/Off switch that obviously is faulty
