2016 does not tie in with 2034 end date?
    Agreed; I'd assumed a 2014 install and 20-year FIT.
Yes I thought this myself. I am at the moment just going off the sticker on the meter. Finding info about them from the HA is proving very difficult

...also I think it would be difficult to resell the house if my roof was rented.

Okay so my question now seems to be, would it be better to own the panels out right or lease? Thanks so much!
So surely you have answered your own question?  You either own the panels or own a house that would be difficult to resell (until after 2034).
Im just presuming it will be difficult. Any info on why etc it might be will be appreciated

It could be difficult to sell the house because mortgage lenders are suspicious and will, at the very least, look closely at the details of the lease:  https://conversation.which.co.uk/money/free-solar-panels-rent-a-roof-mortgage-lender-risk/ .

It's not just mortgage lenders than are wary, so are a lot of purchasers because you really don't have any control or say on how or whether the panels and inverter are maintained and even whether they'll  even get repaired in the case of a fault. The HA might just decide to walk away and leave you with a roof full of stuff.

Who is responsible if either the panels, inverter or the roof needs repairing,.

Even you are having doubts, However if you own them, then although it's down to you, you wont have the hassle of trying to get them sorted out if they need repairs or having to get permission to disturb them if the roof need repairs. Nor will you have to try to persuade a prospective house purchaser if you decide to move in the next 12 years.

In the end it's up to you.
