How to track a mobile phone location?

The exact scenario the OP asked about was tracking a non-smartphone. We have moved quickly on to tracking individuals. Perhaps @Fortyfoot could confirm their requirements?Ergates said:There are trackers specifically designed to be carried by people though (e.g. the ones posted by 400ixl - there are a few different makes around) - many of which are aimed at the exact scenario the OP has mentioned.2 -
No need when there are fob sized ones made for the purpose. Why use a bus when a car will suffice.grumpycrab said:Stick it in a side pocket of her handbag and she'll never notice it.
Other advantage of some of the personal ones is the can have some other basic functions like a panic button the user can press to send out a message, or even more advanced ones that have things like fall detectors. You can even get ones with features like Bluetooth LTE that work with sensors in the home which then use apps to monitor for movement etc to help identify if there are other issues. For example has the person stopped going to bed and sleeping in chairs, going to the kitchen on a regular basis to do meals etc.2 -

The OP asked about tracking a non-smartphone for the *specific purpose* of tracking their partner if/when they wander - given that it's not (legally) possible to track a non-smartphone, suggesting other methods of tracking an individual isn't a change in topic.flaneurs_lobster said:

Really? Please do tell where this *specific purpose* was asked about?Ergates said:

The OP itself talks about tracking the phone. (Presumably because the partner is forgetful and tends to leave the phone lying around).flaneurs_lobster said:

You're both right, apologies, I misinterpreted the OPs post as wanting to be able to track their partner if/when they get lost, rather than the partner losing their phone.1
