credit card recommendation

hi, i am hoping that someone can advise me as to what my best credit card option is. I am currently a student, working part time and earning around £3500 a year. I have a good balance in my current account and an ISA. I am looking for a credit card to be able to purchase things online. I will always be able to pay off anything spent on my credit card each month and so would be looking for a card with good rewards. I realise that i cannot get several credit cards due to my low income. Please could someone enlighten me as to which cards i can apply for?

Most credit cards with good rewards are restricted to people with good credit ratings.... its unlikely you will have much of a history so your rating will probably be poor.

So I would suggest you approach your bank initially (you already have a relationship with them) to get any old card so you can build up a credit rating...

Use the card regularly for things you would buy anyway, set up a DD for the full sum so you pay no interest and never miss a payment.

If they wont give you one try Vanquis or Barclaycard Initial ... awful interest rates but as you are paying off the full amount each month that wont matter...
However dont make too many applications in a short time as this will adversely affect your credit rating.

... then wait for 6 months before applying for a better card.

I can't really give advice about which 'rewards' are best for you... its very much what works out best in your circumstances... some people want airmiles, some only cashback, some love tesco vouchers... it depends upon your spending habits.

Agree with above...if you struggle getting accepted, approach your current bank - then use Nectar, Clubcard, all those things for the time being to get a few rewards until your credit rating improves and your income increases and you can get a more rewarding CC.
