Pure Planet Sent wrong bill to Shell Energy

I sent a wrong meter reading to Pure Planet and upon that I was billed over £1000, but I disputed this, but they were adamant. I contact Watt Bot who asked me to send the correct meter reading with photos of the meter showing the readings.
I did this and later got a message from What Bot that my outstanding bill was now around £14 before PP ceased trading and I was transferred to Shell Energy. Shell Energy has now sent me a bill to set my Direct Debit to over £500 a month. I disputed this and was informed that it was a balance from Pure Planet. What should I do?

Thanks OrizB, I made a mistake when copying the readings from my meter. I resent the actual reading together with the photo of the meter but Pure Planet didn't want to change the bill.

OK, so you sent a meter reading that was far too high?

This could work to your advantage since you will have pre-paid for energy at PP's rates which (hopefully) were lower than Shell's.

What is the (wrong) closing meter reading PP have used? Is it the same (wrong) number that Shell have used to open your account?

Have you been giving Shell regular meter readings? What does your meter read today?
