CIFAS added to credit report

I recently applied for a capital one balance transfer card. I was approved with a 6000 credit limit and all was ok. Got an alert today from credit karma and checked and they’ve now declined and added a “victim of impersonation” marker. I’ve phoned them, confirmed to them who I am, my details, any credit I have thats on my file. They’ve assured me they’ll fix it. Anyone had similar? I don’t really want to apply for any more credit and I’m hoping they now fix it and issue the card as I am the person applying. I have a near perfect credit report that I’ve worked on for years, don’t want it ruined for nothing.

Thanks in advanced for any help

I'm a bit confused by all the references to 'they/them', some of which would appear to apply to Capital One and others Credit Karma, but sounds like you need to check all three of your credit files as a matter of urgency and potentially get hold of your data from CIFAS too, and take it from there:

It says on my transunion, equifax and experien report. Impersonation, current address fraud, Product name personal credit card, facility-not granted. The date I applied and the date CIFAS was added. I guess I’ll just have to wait and see what capital one say. Surely it’ll be removed from
my report as it was me…  to be precise I’m
using “they” but it’s from my credit report. Capital one have said they’ve sent it to the applications team and I’d be contacted in 8-10 days.

It's a protective registration if you can see it on your credit reports.

Seems Cap1 think someone applied for the account, pretending to be you.

Yes but they think someone else did for some reason, perhaps a discrepancy in your application vs what they hold

    “victim of impersonation”
    facility-not granted
You need to get this sorted - because you say you have a category 2 (victim of impersonation) but "facility-not granted "might be confused with a category 4 (Application fraud - facility not granted).

I say this as I understand, a category 2 is you're not to blame (lenders do further checks to make sure you are you).  A category 4 is considered negative (as if you were to blame).

Someone more knowledgeable in CIFAS can confirm or deny?
