Because of Covid isolation I gave up my car but now wish to drive again. My maximum NCB is dated 5/04/2020. Are there any insurers that would accept this because, although only a matter of 3weeks over the two year period, I cannot find any that extend the validity period beyond 2 year period. I have an unblemished 55 year driving record

Your best bet it probably the insurer you were with last, but if you're over the 2 year period you're probably stuck.
With a 55 year unblemished record you should get pretty cheap insurance anyway though.

Think it's a case of getting on the phone and ask.

And how would the OP prove his "55 year unblemished record"?Herzlos said:Your best bet it probably the insurer you were with last, but if you're over the 2 year period you're probably stuck.

They'd be able to show they have had a license for 55 years, and no accidents/claims/convictions within the last 5. NCD is generally capped at 5 years (some insurers do 9) so beyond that it's pretty much irrelevant.

Coop used to be the minority that accepted NCD for 3 years but believed they returned to 2 years after their changes a few years ago.
Most companies, based on your record, would until recently have given you an introductory discount which was equivalent to almost 1 years NCD but with the new rules on not disadvantaging renewing customers this may have failed away. When it did exist it was automatic and so prices would include it online if you met their criteria for it.0 -
Although with a 55 year driving record you may well be starting to hit the age when prices increase againHerzlos said:With a 55 year unblemished record you should get pretty cheap insurance anyway though.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0
