Gers great that you were in time to see the Puffer the other day. Not sure if memory is playing tricks, but would it have been a Puffer that OH and I saw moored at Inverary a few years ago?The puffer at Inveraray is The Vital Spark which was the name of the puffer in the old BBC TV series Para Handy. I think it was only used once for filming though could be wrong. It was originally called Vic 72, the puffer here is Vic 32 and is now used for leisure trips mostly. It's been extensively restored and maintained, lovely thing.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clyde_puffer They used to be the main source of supplies for the west of Scotland, great wee boats, it's always a pleasure to see Vic 32 being used. Everyone on board waved at me as I waited for the swing bridge to re-open. Some days are just good!

Morning everyone
Just finished my breakfast and the washing machine is chugging away. Quite dull at the minute but I'll hang it out in the hope that it brightens up later. Yesterday it was after 6 before the sun came out - I went out and planted a couple of plants into pots. It was lovely outside.
My first afternoon back at work was fine and I did the cleaning afterwards too. Came home and sat and read for an hour before I made tea and though I felt tired, it was 'normal tired' not completely exhausted as I was when I tried to go back to work a month or so ago. I still feel like I have a chest infection, but tests showed I haven't - I have a doctors appointment next week so have my fingers crossed she can help.
I'll start doing my 'proper' hours next week - my boss has changed my hours slightly so I'll work all day on a Monday, followed by two half days and then full days on a Thursday and Friday, which should help. Plus it's only 5 weeks till we break up again!
Well the washing is spinning so I'll get that out when it stops.
Hope everyone has a good day today.
Redruby - good news that your mum is getting home today
Take care everyone x14 -
Hi everyone,
The weekend was so busy I didn't get much chance to read or post, the one time I did sit down to write a post I was so exhausted I deleted it after the first sentence. I still feel a bit like that but am hoping that our couple of days in Yorkshire will recharge the batteries.
The move is complete although the house still has plenty of boxes to be emptied. It was very hard work, I spent most of Friday, Saturday and Sunday looking after Esben who was pretty good but had times when he understandably wanted mummy, it must have been a very confusing time for him. Laura is visiting local nurseries but it seems that they don't have places until September. She also went to the hospital yesterday to book in, she isn't going to the nearest hospital because their maternity services have been rated as inadequate and they are understaffed so she is going to the one 20 miles away. She was told she could have another home birth but she doesn't feel comfortable with it because we are not as close to hospitals as she was in London.
Morning Live on BBC1 are doing a feature on plantar fasciitis, Izzy and Ruby, although you probably know all about it.
We got up to the Yorkshire house last night and a quick look round revealed that the radiator valves had been altered so that the house was decidedly chilly. Several of the games we keep here had been replaced in the cupboard with the pieces scattered around loosely and the kitchen cupboards are all over the place. On the plus side the present cleaner seems to be really good and I was very happy with the way it's being presented, the other things are easily sorted. Unlike last year we have very few bookings for this year, maybe most people have decided to go abroad this year. Hopefully we'll get some more bookings for the summer soon.
We're off to Blackpool this afternoon to see Johannes' show, I'm really looking forward to it.
Ruby and Nelski, I was glad to read the positive news about your mums.
TA congratulations to "Margot".
Gers, it must be a weight off your mind to be rid of all that paperwork.
Thoughts with all the poorlies and carers, I'm sorry, my brain is like cotton wool atm.
Have a good day..14 -
Morning all..Left the stuff on the line overnight, so I'll bring it in in a minute. We had chicken in fajita sauce with tortilas last night, all from cupboards/freezer or homemade. I made the tortillas thinner than I usually do, they were much nicer, there are one and a half left over so they'll go with some scrambled eggs for breakfast. Tonight, we will have another cupboard surprise, maybe risotto milanese [ I have some very OOD saffron to use] and pork escalopes [ half price a while ago, went in the freezer] . Only trouble with that is I have no white wine...But I do need to et some cat crack so.....Road trip! Shopping trip!Ruby, great news! dp1, good to see the long stuff is slacking off. Coxy, hope the interview goes well! TA, yes, you go tell them to sort it out. Izzy, we moved all the stuff from one side of the room to the other, put up a tarp etc. Turned out unncessary, they were very clean [mind you, could be that I don't see dirt like other people
] Scarlet, shopping and a quiz sounds lovely. Gers, there aren't any Reading Police, you could have read more....nice puffer [?]..Maddie, I envy you your outside sandwich,I do miss eating out. camelot, good to hear you are improving too. Bella, still had another laugh at the blind man...Nelski, hope the visit goes smoothly today. Watch out for sunny spells today!

Morning all, I'm a bit late today, too much chatting to Mr Fix It !
Yesterday was lovely as we had the DGC over and DGS is doing well with his gothic horror story, I only gave him a few prompts and then he was well away. DGD went home with her new stables and tack room but Mr Fix It is under orders from DD not to make any more, her bedroom is full when everything is set out !
Today the wm machine is on as the sun is out again, got to take advantage of that. We have to pull the bed back out and reinstate the bedroom clocks ( one each ) as himself had the great idea of moving one clock to under the TV and discarding the other one. Not a good idea, now neither of us can see the blummin time, it's too far away ! We must be as blind as bats these days 😂 Don't know what the rest of the day will bring, maybe some more tidying up in the craft room and or sitting outside to read. It will be more jigsaw-ing if it's too cold. Tea will be a lo roast dinner for me and lo chicken with chips for himself.
RedRuby great news that your Mum will be home today.
Coxy fingers crossed for the interview.
Maddie sorry I meant to say "Are you sure we don't dress up in those fetching bowler hats ?" 😂
Have a good day everyone, if you can.
Take care all

-taff said:Gers, there aren't any Reading Police, you could have read more....nice puffer [?].Reading it all was a time-sucker, mostly boring invoices and then lots of letters and wee notes from / to neighbours about the refurbishment, common aerials, the bin shelter and the missing rails outside the building. Turns out that the ground floor owner had removed them and refused to pay for new ones on his own. Big stooshie (argument) followed, I read that one through and found that the new ones were eventually deemed to be a communal cost. Everyone else was angry that he had gone ahead to remove the railings without consulting any of them.My small load of washing is almost dry. My new outside chairs have arrived so I must shortly take the huge box to the tip, and I've successfully wrangled a new printer cartridge into place without too much trouble.12

Afternoon all, I'm late today. Decided to catch an early bus into town ( which didnt turn up so I had to walk to another route ) to buy some T shirts, most of mine are only fit for rags
Got fixed up in Ne..t and another independent shop.I didn't try on so hopefully will be ok. Quick stop in Marks, got tomatoes! & some reduced fish which will probably be tea tonight. The bus home was late and he stopped before going round to our loop.I was the only one left on and queried- turns out there was an accident in the turn around circle for the 1st bus this morning, and they havent moved the damaged vehicles so can't turn round. So another walk for me,much further this time so my back was killing me by the time I got home with carrying 2 heavy bags. I stopped for a breather and picked some wild garlic halfway up the steps to our road
RR good news! Gers , nice photo of the puffer. Snoozer hope you get a rest in YorkshireHugs and hellos to everyone, take care x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)11 -
