B&Q's Gardener of the Year.

Only one entry will be accepted per household.

Enter in one of the four categories.  Enter a short explanation (max. 300 words), about your entry and the inspiration behind it, along with 3 photographs.

There are four prizes to be won. The judges will select one entrant from each category. Out of the four entrants there will be one winner, which will be selected as the B&Q Gardener of the Year will receive £10,000 in prize money and a B&Q gift card to the value of £2,500 (the “Winner”). The other three runners up will each receive £1,000 in prize money. 

CATEGORY

JUDGED CRITERIA
The Classic Gardener

1. This gardener will understand the importance of time, care and attention when building and caring for their garden.

2. The gardener has sourced perfect plants, carefully tending to them year after year.

3. The gardener has enhanced all parts of their garden with contemporary additions that provide talking points for guests.

4. Every texture and shape is considered. Every space is maximised. This is a garden made perfect.

The Year-Round Gardener

1. This gardener doesn’t have a seasonal preference – come rain, shine or snow, they are nurturing and enjoying their garden.

2. No matter what season, their garden will be thriving with flowering plants, incredible colours and interesting layers - creating a garden of abundance all year round.

3. From BBQs in summer, to firepit winter warmers, this gardener intentionally creates an outdoor oasis perfect for entertaining or simply basking in the joy of their garden, keeping both them and their plants happy.

The Productive Gardener

1. This gardener works their gardens hard. They’re producing an abundance of fruit, vegetables, and herb for the kitchen all year round.

2. They also providing beautiful cut flowers to decorate the home.

3. The gardener works hard to create a sustainable space, with composters, bug hotels, and clear watering systems. They understand the importance of working in harmony with the garden and it shows through the thriving produce and life that lives in their little corner of the planet.

The Eccentric Gardener

1. This gardener will embrace the unexpected and spark joy and intrigue in every corner.

2. From a garden that is abundant with rare plants and amazing textures, to one that uses creative ways to maximise every inch of their garden. This garden is a head turner.
