Hi
Currently I have an HP Laserjet Black and White AIO. I also have a very old Cannon Inkjet which I used for printing colour (I haven't even used it for over 5 years!) - I found it so expensive to use.
I am now wanting to print the 'occasional' document in colour.
Is there an economical one that will do both? Laserjet Black and White is brilliant on costs. Am worried about paying out for colour when I will only be using it occasionally.
Am I best with two separate printers?

Would it be practical to keep your laser b&w but get the occasional colour documents done elsewhere, such as local library?1

If you only need colour for documents, not ohotos, then a colour laser will be better (inks don't dry out like inkjets do). I have just bought one of these https://www.printerland.co.uk/product/xerox-c230/150344 comes with 500 page CMY toners and 500 page Black.

I'm actually doing a project where I need to create mood-boards for individual rooms. Once the project is done with, I'm very unlikely to print in colour.0 -
when you was printing in B+W, it still uses up the coloured ink (maybe I have that wrong!)
Yes and No! If you are printing black text, your printer should only be using the black cartridge. If you are printing in grey, some colour ink might be used to help you achieve the correct shading. Whenever the cartridges are primed or go through the cartridge cleaning process, black and colour ink will be used to prime all of the cartridges, even if you are just printing with the black cartridge.

I had a similar dilemma, I bought a cheap black and white laser printer and I print colour at the local printers or a library0
