Citroen warranty - how does it work?
Options
Hi, I bought a 2 year old Citroen almost 3 years ago. It came with a warranty which I’ve extended the past couple of years. Citroen Renewal Warranty with Assistance and Assistance Plus.
Thankfully, I’ve had no need to use the warranty and the car has been fabulous. However, at the last MOT I had a couple of advisories
1. Front brakes - N/S Pad 6.0mm remaining, O/S Pad 6.0mm remaining. Approx 6mm discs lipped and worn
2. Exhaust System/Catalyst - centre section hanger cracking at bottom weld
3. Front suspension - osf and nsf bottom arm rear brushes cracking
Can I get these things fixed under the warranty or does that only cover things that are actually broken?
Also, I’m not mechanically minded, so are these things serious? Should I get them sorted?
Any comments would be appreciated.
Kind regards.

They’ll all most likely be classed as non-warranty items (definitely the brakes, they’re’consumables’ that’s just fair wear and tear ). I picked this up from the Citroen Warranty f.a.q.A Citroën Extended Warranty provides a high level of cover, but unfortunately we can’t cover consumable items such as brake pads or discs, tyres, oils & fluids (other items are also exluded, please refer to the Policy Document for full details). These items are 'wear and tear' items and will need replacing with time. We're also unable to cover any items which have been modified from the manufacturer’s standard specification. Each cover level has a list of parts covered or excluded – please refer to the Policy Document.Suspension bushes - wear & tear
Exhaust hanger - maybe needs a new section or a small weld to the cracking. This one *may* be covered in the warranty.Arch0 -
Thanks Archie that’s really helpful. Would you suggest getting these things fixed or waiting for them to get worse? I’ve got no idea how much life is left in a brake pad with 6mm remaining!
also to note I plan on replacing the car next year and will be getting it serviced in June.0 -
If you look at this gauge 6mm is fine,
Hilka 12700108 Brake Pad Thickness Gauge.
2-3mm is change time.
Disc lip is normal, it’s done to what the minimum thickness should be.0 -
