Cracked Drum, White Kingt dryer - crosslee

Options
Discovered last night that the drum of our dryer that is not yet 3yrs old has cracked and its making a horrendous clunking noise.
Of course Crosslee and White Knight are no more.
I could just replace the drum myself, but its £155 for the drum alone, and nearly as much as the dryer was (£199 from The Range).

Surely dryers should last more then 3 years?  I have been searching for a list of reasonable lifespans for appliances - I did find an old one from when it was the Sale of Goods act but wasn't sure it if had likely been updated.

Can anyone advise?

With the machine outside of any manufacturers warranty (assuming you don’t insure it) your only option is to replace for a new dryer or fit a new drum.

You would hope dryers last more than 3 years but I had mine just over a year and the heating element went.

Our White Knight did the same after just over a year so I'd say you're lucky with three years! We repaired it and immediately the heater went in it so we got rid of it. I think there is a reason that these companies went out of business!

Even if outside of a manufacturers warranty, you may still have the right to get the appliance repaired, replaced or a refund issued (which can be a partial refund).
These rights are against the retailer and would probably require that you obtain proof that the fault is due to a manufacturing defect, something that may not be easy after almost 3 years but it's incorrect to state that the OP's only option is to replace or repair the unit themselves.
