I have been paying off capital one and am down from £1200 to £300-ish, the card was cut up long long ago.

Today i got a new card in the post, and it's a week til christmas.

Somebody stop me please!

I haven't done anything with it yet, except look at it.

My OH was horrified, he saw it this morning and thought i had applied for a new card!!

what's the first thing you're going to do when you get home? Please say that it'll be "why cutting up that card"!?!

  • definitely cut it up!! That is what I do as soon as a new card come through the post. I swear the companies do it on purpose. I think they know people have cut them up and therefore send them a new one so they will spend!

I am sure that you can remember what it felt like when you had a £1200 debt on it?

Really really remember what it felt like when the bill come through the letter box? You just dreaded the sight of it? Did not want to open it and see the numbers?
And trying to find the money to pay it off?
And all those other bills piling up?

Fell cr*p enough yet? If not, think how long it will take you to pay off all that lot again?

I am sure others can add a few ideas. :rotfl:

Now imagine that card on the table and feel all that cr*p.
    Not nice huh?

Just keep imaging the card on the table and remember what it felt like when the bill comes through the letter box?

Remember how you just dread the sight of it? Imagine opening it and see those huge numbers?

And trying to find the money to pay it off?

And all those other bills piling up?

Every time you see that card, just feel all that cr*p.

Then think about how great it will feel when you cut it up, all gone, little bits in the bin and that lovely sig, with those numbers coming DOWN, DOWN DOWN.

Wise words, and i know you're all absolutely right. I would even say it myself to anyone who'd be in the same situation.

Bit skint this week and this has taken me close to temptation, still tax credits today (£28) family allowance on monday (£72) and wages on wednesday...(£1050) _ God i sound like IA!!!

To be honest i think the original card was gotten (is that even right?) 2 years ago to see me thru Xmas, it would be ironic that it isn't cleared yet, 2 years on and i am even considering spending on it, Which i'm not. I might even text OH and ask him to get rid of it before i get home, else i'll look at it again. Then i'll tell myself it's a good idea to have it as a safety net as january is going to me a long long month!

off to text big G now and tell him to get rid!

    Well done Maz.

if you know you are tempted, get Dh to remove it ASAP.

And as you say - you are still paying off the the D*mm thing from 2 years ago.

How much better to get it off your back for ever?
