IVA F&F paid October 21 but still not received completion certificate

Hi,
I paid a off my IVA after 13 months last October and have been chasing my completion certificate ever since.
The reason given for my IVA not being completed as yet is they are waiting for 1of the creditors to submit their final claims. The creditor is listed as HSBC but the debt was through John Lewis Financial, the IVA company has the details for John Lewis.

My question is by law how long does the creditor have to submit their claim before the case is closed and the completion certificate issued?

Many thanks

The IP will conclude their business when they are ready to do so.

13 months is not exceptional in these cases, mine was almost two years before it arrived.

What is the reason you want it anyway ?

All you get is a photocopied piece of A4 paper with half a dozen words on it, hardly worth waiting for.

You can make a complaint to both your IP, and the insolvency service, that may speed things up a little.

I believe the ‘standard practice’ is to receive a completion certificate (and as sourcrates suggests, a basic few sentences on a bit of A4 paper) within 6 months of payment in full. Depending on how you settled, that may delay things also.

As you have now just tipped over the 6 month mark, you could raise an official complaint with your IVA company. Mine took 3 months to arrive with some stern phone calls in between to gee them along.
If you believe you can, you will. If you believe you can't, you won't.
