As all businesses, of any size, now require accounting software to satisfy HMRC's 'Making Tax Digital' remit I'm looking at what's available in terms of free software. In particular Natwest are offering the Freeagent software free. Has anyone experience with Freeagent? My only concern with this software is that it's cloud based but it seems popular.

You can also consider keeping your existing accounting method and just using one of the free bridging programs. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?1

As previous poster, just keep on doing what you're doing and use bridging software.I use Vital Tax (this is not a plug by the way) which is a simple add-in within any Excel spreadsheet. At present I use it only for VAT returns and it costs the princely sum of circa £1 per month plus VAT. I am sure there will be other examples of software that do precisely the same thing. There is a short video on the Vital Tax website which shows you how it works.I believe MTD is to be extended shortly for Corporation Tax reporting and the same principles will apply. From memory, there is a useful page on HMRC website which lists approved suppliers for bridging software - just found it - (https://www.gov.uk/guidance/find-software-thats-compatible-with-making-tax-digital-for-vat)
