Anything else I need for my Wii ?

Hi , I bought myself a Wii bundle back in Sept for xmas . I have the Wii with sports , 5 kiddy games ( anything else will be too much for me :rotfl:) , Wii play with remote and another nunchuck and a golf club and tennis racket pack . My OH likes 1st person shooters so I have reserved a Wii Zapper with links crossbow training that I need to pick up . I have decided on Resident Evil 4 , Call of Duty 3 and Red Steel for games for OH . I am going to get 2 more family games ( Mario Olympics and something else ) .

So the question is have I covered all bases so to speak ? I have rechargeable batteries for the remotes already .

Any input would be grateful as I would like to get it set up on xmas day so we can all have a go but don't want to find out on the morning I have missed a vital part !

Many thanks , Natalie

There isn't much else that springs to mind as being essential, especially if you've got spare rechargable batteries (I tend to keep 2-4 charged on the side as spares for my Wii and pc mouse;)).

About the only thing I can think of is possibly a classic controller (preferable) or GC controller if you plan on using the virtual console to get some classic games
The only game you haven't mentioned that I would strongly recommend is Mario Galaxy, although from what you've said you've got plenty to keep everyone busy.

One thing I would strongly suggest, is if you haven't registered on the Nintendo website you do so, as all first party games (Mario, Zelda, Metroid etc) and most official hardware comes with "vip codes" that you can enter on the website to get Nintendo Star points* that let you buy things in the Star Catalogue - including Wii points now (although you do have to check repeatedly as they aren't always available)..

*From memory it's 250 stars for a game, and something like 500-1000 for a console.

a nice big soft landing pad, in case someone drops the controller. A friend of mine dropped ours from 3 ft onto our laminate floor and broke my controller, he was passing it over after playing tennis.......

To cap it all he said " How much will that set you back to replace". I had a drink at the time and said dont worry, I havent been able to buy a replacement one since.

Great machine by the way, lots of fun, better than sitting on your backside staring at a screen as you do with the other consoles
:confused:I have nothing better to do!!!!
  • Can I register before I open my Wii ? You say a classic or GC controller , where would I get these from . I have heard a lot about Mario Galaxy being very good , do you reckon that and the Mario and Sonic Olympics then as my 2 games ? Thanks for your reply .

  • I have got the silicone jackets that Nintendo were sending out , and I also have laminate but with a massive rug that covers most of it so hopefully that will cover that side of things .

Aye definately, Galaxy is very good fun and can be played with a second person "assisting", or with just one person.

The classic controller should be available at any games store, and the likes of Woolies and Amazon, assuming they've got stock.

As for registering for the stars, you can sign up before opening the wii etc, but VIP codes that let you get the stars are on postcards (with scratch off panels) inside the hardware boxes and games :)
