Buckingham palace garden party. Areas to reside.

Hi - looking for a hotel when going to queens garden party.  The hotels near trafalgar are really expensive.  Would welcome any ideas of areas to stay where Buckingham palace is easily accessible either by tube or taxi.  Will be staying two nights.  Thanks in advance.

What is 'really expensive'? What are you looking at spending?

Personally I'd look around Victoria, there's a Hilton DoubleTree by the station, which will be 15mins ish on foot to Buckingham Palace, or a Premier Inn Hub by St James Park Tube... Or if you're really pushing the boat out, there's the Goring where the Duchess of Cambridge spent her last night as a single woman, or the Conrad Hilton by St James Park station - also super close.

There's also the Reubens Hotel on Buckingham Palace Road which may be the closest to the Garden Party.

Trafalgar Square is probably a 20+ min walk to/from the Palace

Pay up to £500.   Have seen hotel in Chelsea, South Kensington and maybe tower hamlets near Tower of London.  Are these areas easily accessible to Buckingham palace

Tower of London is miles away! (and tube connections aren't great) Chelsea (depends on where) South Ken feasible if you're ok with Taxi / Tube to get there.

There's also the Clermont at Victoria Station, a Park Plaza and the Z Hotel also close to that station.

Green Park is the nearest tube station to Buck House, about a ten minute walk from there. I agree with the above comments; Victoria is probably your best bet nearby without spending a fortune, or maybe Paddington.
It would help if you said what your point of arrival is: it's presumed that you are travelling by train, so to which mainline terminus? Most of the budget options are near to the stations.
Tower Hamlets is in the East End, not the West End, and Chelsea is not on the tube.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
