    I guess that it depends on my health and potential lifespan 
    Deferring your SP is occasonally described as "longevity insurance". Sacrificing £9700 at age 67 buys you £556/yr from age 68.
    If the state of your health means you're less likely than most to make it to 85-ish, it probably isn't worth doing.

    That's using todays rates - come 8 years time -  if they did continue to rise at either tripe lock or CPI - The difference could be more ...

    If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.

    Both will be affected by inflation, so in real terms (buying power), the difference will remain much the same.
