I've had this Fire Stick for about 15 months and until the last few days it has been fine.  Now I'm experiencing a range of problems ranging from it not being visible on the HDMI port on the TV to working for a couple of hours, rebooting and working for a few minutes, dropping out again and not showing on the HDMI port.
I've tried it in different ports but the problems persist.  I've powered off the TV and Fire Stick (unplugged) and that doesn't always make any difference.  Sometimes the Fire Stick appears on the list and other times it doesn't.  No obvious correlation between the time the TV or Fire Stick is powered off and success or otherwise in it appearing on the list.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.  I'd rather not have to pay out for another one, but suspect that may be the only way out of this.  Intermittent problems are obviously the most difficult to isolate.

Is the stick itself hot to the touch when it goes off?
That may suggest (if it lives in a TV cupboard/cabinet for example) you need better ventilation around it

    Yes tried different ports.
No not hot and TV in the same place it has always been and has good ventilation.
Haven't tried new cable and plug yet.
Factory reset as last resort.  Difficult to do when the darn thing isn't showing on the ports list on the TV. :-(

Is your controller powered by batteries? If so replace them. Also as suggested do a reset where you have to imput your username and password.
Sometimes the stick can't 'see' the controller so you have to go into settings to pair them.
You know what uranium is, right? It's this thing called nuclear weapons. And other things. Like lots of things are done with uranium. Including some bad things.

I am now using new plug and usb cable, in a different port from a different plug socket.  Fingers crossed that will sort things - watch this space :D
    Thanks for all the suggestions.

Well 'fingers crossed', it's over 24 hours since I replaced the usb lead and plug and the Firestick is still visible on the HDMI port.  No idea which component was the cause of the problem but I'm now going to leave everything alone.
