EGR Recall on Series 1

I bought a second hand bmw 1 series in Jan 2017 (not from bmw direct) , car was manufactured in June 2016, only had 7k miles upon purchase.
I got the egr cooler recall letter in Sept 2020 during the pandemic and got booked in for Nov same year.
Didn't think anything of it until in recent weeks when my engine management light has come on. I got it checked out at my local garage and the egr needs replacing, him would be around £1k.
I've looked at the old recall letter and it said, they would check and replace if needed. I've rechecked the paperwork after I took it in. They carried out a health check and found no leakage and did not replace at 56k mileage. The car now has 72k and has developed this exact fault.
I will ring up bmw today but just wanted to see if I had any grounds for a replacement on this FOC. Just because it was not faulty at the time, doesn't mean that it won't develop a fault.
In addition, my coolant level kept coming on a year ago and I just kept topping it up, and didn't understand why I needed to keep putting it in. When I had my service, they quoted me £700 but he said I could just keeping putting coolant in which i did, this, I realise is all linked. So in theory, i took my car in Nov, and then the coolant light came on in April and i just kept topping up.

I don't see you have any grounds for a free replacement. The recall didn't involve replacing the actual EGR itself but rather a valve on the cooler that was subject to leaks and therefore a potential hazard. You could always ask and if you've had the car fully serviced by BMW then they may offer some goodwill but I doubt it.0
