Please help - Hot to pay large amount from Barclays A/c?

Please someone help me before I smash my phone whilst waiting forever for Barclays to answer!

Simple question that none of their online help has answered... How do I make a large payment to another bank?

• I need to redeem my mortgage (c. £65K) by a payment to the mortgage co. 
• Don't want to use a cheque as the clearance time (up to 10 days) adds to the extra daily interest I'll be charged (c. £9 per day)
• Online Barclays has a payment limit of 10K
• Nearest branch is 8 miles away and now closed until Monday
  

Seems like I'll have to go to the branch, unless there's some other way. Is there a limit on what I can pay there too (from my personal current a/c)? Also, what ID etc do I need to take?

£50,000 online. I often make faster payments > £10,000, I've done 3 this April alone

I believe CHAPS is used for large transactions.

However as it’s now Friday / 5pm (hooray!)
in your circumstances I’d probably just start sending the money over in 10k chunks. You’ll be finished on Thursday morning, and each one will have reduced remaining interest.  

I paid my mortgage off in 3x25k chunks. Lloyds online limit at time

The payment limit on a laptop/pc is £50,000, but is only £10,000 on a smartphone or tablet. Note the limit is per 24 hours, and will include any standing orders. So, if you make a payment at 2pm, and try another payment the following day at 11.30am and the total of them exceeds the stated limits, it will be refused.

Dunno about Barclays, but First Direct allow you to send large sums by BACS free of charge over the phone, which would otherwise be too large to send by faster payments in one go. I paid off ~ £104k on my Nationwide mortgage account a few years ago from FD, though funds took 24-48hrs to reach NW. No idea if BACS is still an option these days in addition to Faster Payments and CHAPS.

Thanks to all who replied. I eventually split it between 2 separate payments from the online banking, not the app. The online limit is £50K per payment (vs 10K in the app) but luckily it also accepts multiple payments on the same day. Job done! :-)
