In the time it took for them to install the meter is when I supposedly accrued the £183.
Were you taking meter readings during this time period?.
If you were then where is the supposedly entering into things?.

No I didn't take any meter readings. I know now that I should have but at the time I didn't.

Just one of those things then OP,that you'll most likely have to write off to experience.
Uncertain what applies to prepayment meter debt, but suppliers can pursue debt for up to 5 or 6 years, provided they can give you an accurate bill.
You dont have readings, but were made aware of the fact that your previous usage would be billed for at some point, eventually and the standing charges which weren't collected due to the emergency credit usage likewise.

Have you taken meter readings, preferably with photos and registered with the supplier in your current property, avoiding repetition of the above problem?.
