Letter received saying payment of PCN failed but no PCN ever received so never tried to pay

I have just received a letter from Euro car parks saying my attempted PCN payment failed 4/9/22 and to either phone or go online to try again. I'm assuming the date format is American although the actual letter is dated 14th April 2022.
I've never received a PCN and certainly wouldn't have attempted to pay it without querying it.
Looking on their website the charge relates to 4.2.22 and is asking for £50.
This letter doesn't state my car registration, which car park it relates to, nor provides any evidence as to the reason for the PCN.
Does anyone have experience of this situation or any advice please? Thanks

Can you view online the photos of a PCN and your car, and recognise the place?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I can't see anywhere on their website that has photos. I'm not sure if they would be visible if I entered all my details on the appeal section?
I just don't understand how they can say a payment has been unsuccessful if it hasn't been attempted.

    Yes they would.

Put in your VRM and PCN ref (the long number).

Thanks, I've done that but the only options are to pay or to appeal. The appeal allows me to submit evidence but doesn't show theirs.
Is it worth submitting an appeal against something I haven't received or phone them do you think?

Is there no ability to see photos? Even when you click 'appeal'?

No, I've completed the appeal up to 'submit' and there's nothing to see

What about when you pretend to pay by card (don't actually pay!).

No, it just takes me to the payment details. I can't even find out which local carparks are operated by Euro to give me a clue. I guess I'll just have to contact them. Thank you though

I think appeal and say you have not received a PCN, just this letter (attach it). Tell ECP you are about to complain to the BPA because sending this letter out first and having no photos on the website (no evidence at all, just a false claim that you tried to pay) bears all the hallmarks of a scam.

Send a SAR to Euro Car Parks DPO (see Newbies thread). Don't ring them and throughout the process of determining what the PCN is actually for don't admit to being the driver or who it might have been. Everything in writing only. Perhaps the scammers have sent the mysterious letter hoping to get you to inadvertently admit liability or find out who the driver of a vehicle was.
