PCH Lease Insurance Problem

  • Yep, Vanarama are the broker and Arval are the ones who own it. Think I'll just go with Arval as the registered keeper. Under the terms of my lease I'd be responsible for any fines etc, but they go to the lease company first. So that says to me they're on the logbook. Just wanted a second opinion! Thanks all.

There are also two different definitions of the person registered as keeping the vehicle.  The one responsible for taxing it as Registered Keeper as far as DVLA is concerned and the person registered with the Registered Keeper as ordinarily keeping the vehicle under the terms of the leasing agreement.  Yes, it's confusing but it's how things are dealt with when it comes to NIPs etc.
Really? There is only one definition in law, and that's the one used by the police to serve NIPs.

It's come up in discussion on pepipoo in those terms before.  The finance is the registered keeper as far as DVLA is concerned and the person 'keeping' the vehicle is the person leasing the vehicle.

    1. The registered keeper is whoever the finance company wants it to be, and it advises the DVLA accordingly. It is usually the company itself, but there are exceptions, notably Motability.
    2. The lessee is indeed the "person 'keeping' the vehicle" for the purposes of section 172 of the Road Traffic Act, but that does not make him the registered keeper.
