What does "our reading" mean on EDF Enegry bill

I am trying to understand an EDF Energy bill that I have been presented with.

Where the electric meter readings are there is text "OUR READING"

Does this mean they have read the meter or it is an estimate?

I suspect that latter as the building is a sports pavillion, which is generally un occupied.
Regards
Mike Williams

    With Edf could mean anything

Do the readings match what the meter says?

As Robin9 says, with EDF it indeed could mean anything.
The value of the February gas reading I sent them online is shown correctly but wrongly stated to be 'Our Reading'.  It's not a smart meter and it's behind a locked gate so there's no way they could have read it.
EDF even messed up the 31 March reading.  Their website crashed under the load, and it was after midnight before I was able to submit it.  EDF recognised the general problem and they added a special form to the website where the 31 March reading could be submitted, but they allowed only a very short window, until 3 April.
Despite following their instructions, EDF still generated a bill that showed an Estimated reading for 31 March that was too low, resulting in a small overcharge.  When I complained they promised a £5 goodwill payment (more than the overcharge) and quoted a reference number for it.
Needless to say, that promise hasn't been honoured, and my subsequent email complaint will take up to three weeks to get a response.
Hopeless company, can't wait to leave !

It means you have a smart meter which has been read remotely by EDF and is an actual reading, not an estimate.

It could be a reading taken by an authorised meter reading company, but I am not sure how EDF record that.

Estimates will have that against the reading.

If you supplied a reading, then it will show as "your read"

Not in my case: see my post which crossed with yours.

Just looks like it’s been entered wrongly as a company read rather than a customer read. As long as it’s correct it doesn’t really matter what it shows as except to those that like to nitpick every minute thing an energy company does wrong

I've got Gas and Electric with Eon (I know a glutton for punishment) and "Our Read" can mean at least three things -  a guess (my non smart Gas in a locked garage) ;  contractor read (while changing Electric meters) and Smart.

Hopefully the OP can come back and tell us who does read the pavilion meter.

As a long standing EDF customer I can say -
If it were an estimated reading it would say "ESTIMATED" next to the read.
If it were your own reading it would say "YOUR READ"
If an official meter reader read the meter OR it's a smart meter reading it would say "OUR READ"

@Phones4Chris As an unwilling EDF SoLR customer I can say -
    • If it were an estimated reading it should say "ESTIMATED" next to the read.
    • If it were your own reading it should say "YOUR READ"
    • If an official meter reader read the meter OR it's a smart meter reading it should say "OUR READ"
But it doesn't always work that way...
    FTFY !
